BMS_u018_SOC_Imbalance_Limiting

Maximum battery charge level reduced

What does the BMS_u018_SOC_Imbalance_Limiting alert mean?

The battery managed system (BMS) detects a condition internal to the high voltage (HV) battery that requires it to limit the maximum allowed brick voltage.

What you'll see in your Tesla

  • Maximum battery charge level reduced
  • OK to drive - Schedule service

What triggers it

The BMS detects that the overall SOC imbalance (BMS_socCellMaxDbg - BMS_socCellMinDbg) exceeds the acceptable threshold.

When it clears

The BMS detects that the overall SOC imbalance (BMS_socCellMaxDbg - BMS_socCellMinDbg) is within the threshold.

Potential impact

The target max brick voltage for charge is limited to the voltage corresponding to 50% state of charge (SOC).

Affected models

Model S 2012-2020 Model X 2015-2020
