What triggers it
A Forward Collision Warning (FCW) or Brake Capacity Warning (BCW) event was detected based on distance to, relative speed of, and relative acceleration of detected object; also based on vehicle speed, driver reaction time, required deceleration to prevent collision, and the driver's FCW sensitivity setting.
When it clears
This alert is cleared automatically when Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is no longer active.
Potential impact
If Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC) is not engaged, only a User Interface (UI) warning will be displayed along with an audio chime. When Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC) is active, the vehicle will display a UI warning and temporarily slow down to avoid a collision.
